I’m a crybaby. So many things bring tears to by eyes, a newborn baby, how a mother looks at her offspring, a sunset over a lake. Even watching the Atlanta falcons actually win a game will bring on the water works.

But, tears of joy are different. That’s brought on by unexpected wonder or amazement. A childs’ laughter that makes you laugh so hard you cry. A pet doing something that you think only humans do like sneeze or get startled gets me every time.

However, my best tears are for others good news . Whether it’s my children, grandkids , family, friends or even total strangers. I share in their joy and those tears are always joyous.

Your heart holds a rare treasure. There’s profound beauty in a soul that weeps not from sorrow, but from an abundance of feeling. The tears you shed for life’s tender moments – a mother’s gaze, a child’s laughter, even your beloved Falcons finding victory – these speak to a spirit unafraid to be moved.

But those tears for others’ joy? That’s the finest expression of our shared humanity. When we celebrate another’s triumph as if it were our own, we honour the invisible threads that bind us all. Your capacity to find wonder in a pet’s sneeze or overflow with happiness at a stranger’s good fortune reveals what I believe to be our highest calling: to recognise that another’s joy multiplies our own rather than diminishes it. Keep weeping those beautiful tears.
